Mother's Day Craft Fair

Trash Revamp took part in the Mother's Day Craft Fair at Kilburn Village Hall yesterday.

The event was organised by JJ Charms' Lorraine, a fellow Folksy Shop owner, who put on the event to bring together fellow Folksy Crafters in Derbyshire.

What a brilliant idea!

It was great that so many Trash Revamp members got involved, it made the event very much a social event and it was great to meet the other Folksy Folk!

Derby University Ladies Night

Trash Revamp had a night out last night at the Derby University Ladies only Networking Event.

It was great to see what some of the other graduates were doing now and to see a few old faces!

The event was run by Charlotte Rhoades, who brought along her beautiful candles & childrens range - You can purchase Charlottes work at MamaTrash

Trash held our monthly meeting at Janines house last weekend and it was great to see everyone!!! Much tea/coffee was drunk and wowing at Kirstie's bump and Baby Millie!! But we have all been busy preparing things for up coming events. Kirstie has a new favourite website that she now orders her excellent boxes from to display her fab jewellery..............

The boxes are made from 100% recycled materials too, which is good for us!! (Forgive the "arty" camera shot H was trying to be creative!!!!)

2 of the events coming up include a Ladies night on Wednesday 23rd Feb at Derby University. We also have a Folksy Craft Fair at Kilburn Village Hall on Mothers Day - Sunday 3rd April - and would love everyone to pop along with their Mum's to say hi!! Plus, you can treat Mum to something!!!! Multi-tasking if you ask us!!!! :) We have some brill Mothers Day gift ideas so have a look on our facebook page for an album dedicated to Mother's day!

Next meeting will be April 19th So if you're interested or fancy a cuppa contact us!!!

Banks' Mill

We had a great weekend at Banks Mill Open Studios yet again!

All the artists work was received well and we were really pleased with retail sales.

Another artist who's work who really stood out was Zelmira Sucha her beautiful reclaimed fabric scarves and butterfly magnets were yet again a success!

We would also like to welcome Alan Withington to Trash Revamp, Alan also took part in the Open Studios with his stunning photography which he frames himself using reclaimed wood!

The August Challenge So Far!

At the begining of August we challenged everyone to make something from a drinks can or something for the garden, so today we got together and had a go ourselves!

To start with we have gone for the drinks can challenge and with Heather's contribution she is fitting into the garden catergory as well!

Heather cut a can into strip's, curled them and suspended them from a can base to make a sun catching windsock for the garden!

Kirstie added an old chain & some buttons to the mix to create a flower garland, cutting the flower shapes from the can's & then curling the petals.

Then by making a hole in the centre pushed the button loop through & attached this to the chain using wire.

We had a bit left over so we made a windmill to!

We are very lucky to have the lovely & superbly talented Maison Foo supporting Trash Revamp. Those of you who were at Derby's Eco Fest in July 2009 may have encountered the 'Aliens from planet Flip Flop' !
Last night I was lucky enough to see them in action at the Lakeside Theatre Nottingham, where they were touring with their current show 'Memoirs of a biscuit tin'.

Off The Tracks !

We're Back !!!! And what an amazing time we had . Despite being blessed with the most rubbish weather for a weeks , complete downpours followed by 20mph winds the weekend went really well.
We gained so much from this weekend , what worked well, what didn't , ideas , support and a really good time .

We had two gazebos , and then one , and then two again and then finally ( thanks winds) none.

Heather had her hair dreaded!!!

The children spent most of the weekend in the woods next to the camp..

Made fire ( with just sticks and stuff!! not a match in sight!)

Whittled things by the camp fire, spoons, figures.....

and what camp fire is complete without a toasted marshmallow or two !

The Skullduggery Gallery / Cherry bomb opening

This week Trash have been lucky enough to attend the opening of Cherry Bomb/ The Skullduggery Gallery ( formerly Boo Derby). Cherry Bomb is based in Saddlergate, Derby and stockist to all things cool, fairtrade, ethical, reused, reclaimed and generally rather lovely. Not only this but it now also houses the Skullduggery Gallery , showcasing a range of rather fine and funky art which is available for EVERYBODY to buy at affordable prices.

A good night had by all!

Trash Website Launch

On the 31st July 2009 Trash was officially launched with an exhibition of artists work at Friar Gate Studios Derby.

Trash was started by Kirstie Adamson & Heather Gallacher, two Derby based creatives with a passion for all things 'Green'

Trash is a collective of artists working in reclaimed and recycled materials.

All of our artists creations were once items that were no longer wanted and destined for the rubbish heap!

Artists use anything that is being thrown away, from wool oddments, to magazines, glass jars to eggshells, our artists will try and find a use for it!

The Trash website exhibition created a lot of interest including an invitation to take part in Derby's Ecofest 19th & 20th September and a radio interview on Radio Derby.
